Nothing to do with the Marial Art and EVERYTHING to do with the Martial Artist. It comes to down mastery which requires disciple & luck. There is no rank as to which are best. Depends on the opponent & the fight as to which MA would be most effective. The "way of the intercepting fist" or Jeet Kune Do is probably the most fluid, balanced & effective because it uses whatever is necessary (style or not) to subdue the opponent. That said, boxing can be devastating in most battles. Remember, the best, most effective warriors (and the ones who live the longest) train but never have to fight and when they do, they end it quickly. Why? because they've learned to use their brain and that requires mastery too. I've talked my way out of more fights than I can count and that should be the first lesson in any Martial Art.

I agree regarding the coaching thing. It's 'normal' occurrence in most sports, but I think it's particularly egregious in wrestling and bjj and other sports like it where it's just a live-feed of information from a 2nd perspective.

I agree, the only coaching that should be allowed in competition is in between rounds. The rest of the time it should just be on the competitors to ply their craft

Bruce lee was done with wing chun, even though he continued to practice and teach kung fu...he ended up finding his own path. he searched for other martial arts and found that the best way is freedom to use any way(to be formless) but as for you! i think you got everything you wanted out of Shaolin and are ready to finding your own path. I am christian and for me Jesus is Lord and he is the way for me.(haha sorry for changing subject) but the reason i bring it up is because you are honest, sincere, and search for truth. Jesus is the truth, the way, and the life!

Mauy thai and jujitsu

It's kind of funny to hear your mindset when fighting, especially just the 'staying nice and relaxed vibe'. I do the same thing in fencing competitions. I used to be way too salty every single time and I just didn't enjoy it anymore. Now, I fence for fun again, and I'm fencing better than I've done in ages. I also completely get the 'love the competing, hate everything around it' vibe. With fencing, at least, the sport is so small here that we all know each other, so it's always a lot of fun hanging out at tournaments bitching about how early it is and how the organization sucks, and at international competitions we usually support each other too, even though we're from different clubs. Also, yeah, the matches should be one on one. I don't like getting coached during a match (except in the break between rounds), because when I take a hit I want to analyze what happened for myself, and I can't do that when someone shouting advice at me. I do sometimes like it when my _opponent_ gets coached, though, since if I can understand them I can just, y'know, counter them.

LoL. Einer meiner Vereinskollegen kämpft auf einer anderen Matte und ich sehe an der nächsten Matte einen unserer Schwarzgurte sitzen und coachen. Waren Kämpfe 2 bis 4 in FFM im März? Dann sind wir aneinander vorbei gelaufen. Oder eher ich an dir. Ich glaube wir hätten Spaß miteinander. Ähnlicher Fortschritt, ähnliches Alter, ähnliches Gewicht, ähnliche Einstellung dem Wettbewerb gegenüber aber sehr unterschiedliche Stile.

Competition and Rolling at the gym is way different experience. Me honestly I always got trashed during regular sparring/rolling in our Gym. But I didn't expect that ended up in a podium finish during my first competition. I don't know what kind of sh*ts I did during my first competition. That's it I just got a medal.
